Running approximately 90 minutes, “The Stories of Eva Luna” consists of vignettes performed by one to six actors, opening and closing with pieces about Eva (Maya Angel Giacomazzi) and Rolf Carle (Himi Khan).
Neither a fully developed stage production nor a traditional literary event, “The Stories of Eva Luna” is a nine-part exploration of Allende’s work, with poems by Pablo Neruda and Carlos Bolton, developed collaboratively by COM faculty member Erin McBride Africa and some dozen students. Through May 22, College of Marin’s drama department presents an interesting pastiche of scenes drawn from Allende’s vast output. Her work explores current and historical life in Central and South America. The Chilean American writer has authored more than 25 books, translated into more than 42 languages, totaling more than 75 million copies sold. Marin resident Isabel Allende is one of the world’s most revered and most prolific writers.
